Kouvelou squat in Maroussi (northern suburb of Athens) was hit by arson in the middle of the night, at around 3 am on September 14th, 2011. The roof has collapsed and four rooms have been burnt. Thessaloniki: Police intimidation against Libertatia squat
On Friday midday, September 9th, 2011, more than 100 police motorcycles appeared on the streets that surround Libertatia squat. Solidaritarians immediately reached the squat in fear of eviction. Cops invaded only the building’s front yard, but two comrades were detained and held in the city’s police headquarters. Both have now been released. This police operation was intended to intimidate a part of the radical social movement, just one day before the scheduled gatherings, manifestations and demonstrations ahead of the 76th Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF).

Greece: The ‘Metapolitefsi’ has legally ended
On Wednesday noon, August 24th [2011], Container squat in the University campus in Zografou, Ilissia district, has been invaded and evicted. The occupied container was smashed, and all items were removed and confiscated. Students from the occupied Refectory building at the Propylaea in downtown Athens called for a discussion–briefing at 9 pm regarding these developments.
Hours earlier, about 2,000 students demonstrated in central Athens while demonstrations also took place against the education reform bill in Thessaloniki, Heraklion (Crete) and Patras. Nevertheless, the Greek parliament voted in the education reform bill submitted by the minister of Education Anna Diamantopoulou which included some of the most sweeping changes the country’s educational system has seen in living memory.
Keratsini (Greece): March for Resalto
More than a thousand march in Keratsini in solidarity to the 21 comrades arrested during the police raid on Resalto, the anarchist social centre of the proletarian suburb of Peiraeus.
More than a thousand protesters marched on Saturday afternoon [December 19th, 2009] in the industrial proletarian suburb of Peiraeus, Keratsini, against state terror and the police invasion of Resalto, the local anarchist social centre two weeks ago which resulted in the arrest of 21 people who are being accused of preparing explosives for… some empty beer bottles and a few litters of heating kerosene found in the remises. Initially the state accused the arrested for terrorism but the state interrogator subsequently dropped the charges. The invasion of the 4th of december had resulted to a sponteneous local attack against the police forces guarding the centre a few hours later and to the occupation of the Keratsini city hall which was too invaded by the police with 42 people arrested despite the opposition of the mayor, the local council and the lawyer association of the town who have subsequently published official decisions condemning the repression.
Lesvos (Greece): Roof of Pagani occupied
This morning at 10 o’clock [august 31st, 2009], ten noborder activists from Austria, Sweden, Spain, France, Czech Republik, Portugal, the Netherlands and Germany occupied the roof of the refugee jail in Pagani. With this action, we are increasing the pressure to finally get Pagani closed.

During the noborder camp, we were able to witness the brutal consequences of the European border regime here in Lesvos. A ship employed by the European border agency Frontex is hunting refugee boats, the Greek coast guard and the Navy do the dirty work. Human lifes don’t count.
Athens suburbs (Greece): Prapopoulou squat attacked, one immigrant beaten

Fascist attack against a squat in Greece.
On 1st of August 2009 at 02:00 AM two thugs in helmets stopped with their motorcycle by the Prapopoulou squat and using iron bars they tried (unsuccessfully) to break doors and windows.
By pure chance at that moment a homeless immigrant, friend of the squat, was inside. When the thugs took notice of him, they launched a savage attack with their iron bars, hitting his head and body while engaging in racist hate speech. They then left, leaving behind them a container filled with petrol.
Neighbours heard the attacked man pleading for help and called an ambulance and nursed him. The fascist thugs failed to damage the squat. The general assembly was mobilised immediately, including comrades in solidarity. The fascists managed to injure, fortunately nor seriously, an immigrant.
Thessaloniki: Arson attempt against Fabricka Yfanet squat
Fabricka Yfanet is a former 19,500 m² factory in Thessaloniki (Greece) that has been occupied by people demanding their freedom from political and economic oppression since 20 March 2004.
On Saturday morning, 25 July 2009 at 5.05, arsonists attempted to put our squat on fire by lighting barbecue tanks at the main iron gate. They left a bag containing six gas cans, one 4-litre petrol canister, and a box of fire-starters.
The explosion could not escape the attention of squatters on standby inside the occupation for its protection (such measures were taken after the government threats against free spaces). With the help of neighbours we put down the fire, and fortunately absolutely no damage was done at all.
Heraklion (Crete/Greece): Hands off our squat!
On Tuesday 22 july 2008, the squat of Evaggelismos received a visit by a coterie of officials, constituted by the dean (and businessman) of the university of Crete, the vice chancellor, the local prosecuting attorney and some high-ranking cop, along with undercover cops and pressmen. Aim of this visit was, in their own words, to “warn us” for the oncoming evacuation of the building and “give us a two-week deadline” in order to abandon the squat.
During the next day, this was carried on the local papers; they were praising the squat’s intended evacuation and its future exploitation, carrying out their familiar tendency on misinformation and mudslinging; with sensationalism and without mentioning what will be accommodated in this space in the case of an eviction. We know that their main concern is the building’s evacuation (during the favorable to them coincidence of a repealed university asylum and the summertime), instead of its future use. In any case, only some naive would lap up that such a “filet” in the city center would not be used by the university or the local municipal authorities (in case of a building tradeoff between them) for speculative aims.
Larissa (Greece): IKA squat evicted and demolished

Heavy police forces raided the recently squatted building of IKA
On Wednesday morning (april 23rd), IKA squat in Larissa was evicted and partially demolished. At 6am the criminality suppresion police raided the building and attacked those who were inside. They were violently taken to the police department. Part of the building was demolished.
