Turin (Italy): Four squats searched, three people arrested and others to house arrest

May 12th, 2010

Waiting for news, we communicate that, around 6am of the morning, the Digos [political police] has searched many occupations (Asilo, Barocchio, Mezcal, Askatasuna) and houses, arresting three people, notifying some house arrests (it seems they’re four people) and to others, the requirement to sign in at the local police station. The repressive operation it’s a revenge for the riots occurred on the eviction of L’Ostile [last december], the restricted measures are emaned by PM Rinaudo. There’s a public assembly today afternoon at Mezcal squat to organize future iniziatives.

Torino (Italy): Evictions = Riots

Evictions means riots: Update on recent events in Turin.
Translated from http://www.informa-azione.org/

Thursday 10 december 2009 – today’s events: The forces of repression (the same police, carabinieri, and civvies as always) evicted Ca’neira at 6:25am; at 6:45am these forces of disorder had arrived at L’ostile too. The “ostiles” got up on the roof and a rally (around 100 people) took to the streets in solidarity, and blocked Corso Vercelli, stopping the cherry-pickers from getting in, and leading to the first police charge. Out shopping, a woman from the neighbourhood went to buy cigarettes and got beaten across the back and legs for her trouble. (People from the solidarity demonstration took her to hospital).

19.00 A new Ca’neira is born and evicted again before 20:00 with excessive force, following resistance on the roof by some of the squatters and others chaining themselves to the windows; four people are taken to the police station in Via Grattoni and released around 23:00.

Torino (Italy): Demonstration in solidarity with the squatters, 19 dec. 2009

Solidarietà… Solidarity… Solidaridad… Solidarité…

Torino city council, with the “leftist” Chiamparino at its head, has decided last november 16th to evict every squat in Torino. The anarchist squats are especially threatened: l’Asilo, the Barocchio, El Paso, Mezcal, Lostilo, la Boccia squat, etc.

This a sort of declaration of war against the squat movement. The Torino’s anarchist and autonomous squats call to mobilization and resistance.

The anarchist squat movement in Torino is an important reality for near than 30 years. Every solidarity action is welcome, send messages to squat at squat.net and to the websites Tutto Squat and Indymedia-Piemonte. You also can demonstrate in front of italian embassies and consulates, and other italian representations.

Welcome in Torino also.

Spread the info.

Venice and Milan (Italy): Occupation of Danish consulates

Tuesday March 6th, 2007 – Venice and Milan – Occupation of Danish consulates

Today in Venice and Milan two actions of occupations of Danish consolates took place to claim the end of the heavy repression held by the Danish government and city council of Copenhagen towards activists who are fighting and resisting to defend social spaces (over 600 arrests, and many activists in custody).

In Venice – this morning – claiming the end of the heavy acts of repression held by the Danish government against the danish activists (700 arrested ,250 of which imprisoned for 2 or 3 weeks), after the eviction and demolition of the Social Centre Ungdomhuset, 80 italian activists, occupied the Danish consulate in Venice. The banner of the activists quotes “From Venice to Copenhagen. Hands off Free Spaces”. The symbol of the Danish consulate was painted pink. After a few hours of occupation the Danish consul accepted the activists’ call to send, from the offices of the consulate, a fax to the Danish government to inform Danish authorities on the protests and demand the immediate releasment of the 700 arrested in Denmarck after the riots of Copenhagen.

Torino (Italy): 29/6 Street party against repression

TORINO: 29/6 Street party against repression

One month of repression in our city: 3 times new squats has been evicted, and a historical squat, la Cascina also has been evicted. After this lots of actions in the town, molotov, demonstrations, parties. The police and judges try to stop the hot situation with arrestations and menaces. After the next saturday action, the central place of Turin squatted by the people of the squats, in a big football match, surrounded by cops but with no fight. A new squat should be opened in the next weeks, but the most important public action should be the STREET PARTY at the end of June, the 29 Saturday along the center of the town. Everybody is invited, alone, or with his sound system… For info mailto: tutto [at] squat [dot] net

Italy: Instant release of all individuals that were arrested during the demonstrations against the G-8 meeting in Genua!

“The gate opened constantly, the people got out of the trucks and were beaten up. They had to stand against the wall. Inside, they smashed their heads against the wall. They pied on some of them. A young woman threw up blood while the chef of the GOM (special unit of the department for domestic affairs) watched. They threatened the woman with raping her with their clubs.”
– Italian police officer in an interview with “La Republica”

The violent actions of the police during the G-8 meeting in Genua show that the large protest movements against the politics of the leading industrial nations are in this case being stopped and hindered by violence on the street and torture of arrested individuals if necessary. [Read More]
