Angered at the news of the eviction of the Liebig 14 in Berlin, some 300 protesters took to the streets of Copenhagen in a solidarity demonstration. With chants, slogans and revolutionary music people gathered on the fringe of Copenhagen inner city and marched towards the german embassy. The police kept watch on the side streets and from the back and front of the demonstration.

The embassy was guarded by police in riot gear and armored vans. Opun arriving protesters attacked the police with bottles and firecrackers trying to reach. The police approached the demonstrators but didn’t dare to attack directly or arrest anyone. After the standoff the demonstration went back towards the grounds of Jagtvej 69. The former site of Ungdomshuset in Copenhagen. On the way protesters smashed windows of some banks

Even though the demonstration went without direct attacks from the police, six people were arrested for being in the possesion of gas masks, pepperspray and graffiti cans. Only pepperspray is directly illegal in Denmark however.

Bristol: The Hub drop-in homeless advice centre re-opened by squatters

For the past two weeks The Hub in St Paul’s, the former drop-in centre for homeless people, has been occupied by squatters in protest against the cuts to homeless services.

The recently-closed drop-in centre provided emergency housing information for homeless people without the need for an appointment. Thanks to its closure, those seeking housing advice from the council must first get a referral to see an advisor at the main offices.

Council spokespeople cited violent outbursts, such as windows being broken, as the reason for its closure. But with Bristol City Council being forced to slash its budget for homeless services by £190,000, charity workers and many from the homeless community are convinced that The Hub’s closure has more to do with vicious spending cuts. Netherlands: Events and actions against the squatting ban (october 2010 – january 2011)

A timeline of events and actions in the Netherlands during the squatting ban

October 1st, 2010
The first day of the squatting ban.
Head of the police and a public prosecutor known for his hatred towards squatters are placed under 24-hour surveillance and protection after threatening texts (for example “an accident is just around the corner”) are supposedly painted outside their houses the previous night.
In Amsterdam 1000 people take part in a demonstration against the squatting ban. During the demonstration a house is squatted, and slightly later a riot breaks out when the cops charge the crowd. The police uses tear gas for the first time in years. 2 cops, 3 cop horses and several squatters are injured. Berlin: Eviction and riot on next february 2nd ?

January 14th, 2011

The police in the german capital Berlin is expecting heavy riots around february 2. The police will evict one of the last squats in Berlin : Liebig 14.
Officials and newspaper say that this may cause heavy riots.

EVICTION DATE SET FOR LIEBIG 14

Today, 10 january 2011, the house project in Liebigstraße 14, Berlin-Friedrichshain, received a written eviction notice for all apartments. It will be enforced the 2nd of february at 8:00 AM. The lost legal processes and the failure of politics ! The eviction notice for our house project is the outcome of an almost 4 year-long legal struggle over the termination all apartments contracts, a struggle between the inhabitants of the houseproject and the owner Suitbert Beulker (also owner of the houseproject in Rigaerstr. 94) and Edwin Thöne, manager of the child protection association Unna. The pleaded ground for the terminations was the display of banners and Beulker taking offence with the construction of a door in the stairway.

Hamburg: new trailerpark “Zomia” squatted and tollerated

19.12.2010 On 20th november 2010, people squatted a free space in Wilhelmsburg (Hamburg) with six trailers, campers and mobile homes in order to enforce a new trailerpark in Hamburg.

After only a few hours the group had to leave the place to avoid an eviction through the police and moved to a temporary stay at a befriended project in order to start negotiations with the city.

After two involuntary relocations, many fruitless negotiations, several demonstrations, one trailer ralley and city actions, Zomia once more squatted a beautiful piece of land at the Ernst-August-Kanal, where they still are.

Following busy eviction preparations from the citycouncil and a declaration by the group saying they will not leave the place by any means, Zomia now has been told to be tollerated at the premisses till the end of april 2011.

Hamburg has a new trailerpark!

There hasn`t been any trailerpark-squatting in Hamburg since the violent eviction of the Bambule in 2002.
10 of the former 15 trailerparks have been evicted and for several years a new squatting-attempt seemed unwinnable.
Zomia proved the opposite.

For more trailerparks and squats everywhere!

Grenoble (France): The 56’s trial has been put off

Translated from french:
https://squat.net/fr/news/grenoble171210.html

On wednesday december 15th, 2010, the 56’s squat, in Grenoble (56 rue Docteur Hermite), was supposed to go to the tribunal for an eviction trial:
https://squat.net/fr/news/grenoble141210.html

The “socialist” Grenoble’s city-council, owner of the building, doesn’t like the idea of people self-organizing oustide from its control, leaving them doing debates, free shop, free launderette, karate and self-defence lessons, public meetings, infoshop, etc.
The city-council wants the police to evict the squat as soon as possible…

Because of the lawyers strike, all the trials of december 15th were put off to the end of the month or even later.

Le 56’s trial has been put off to next january 19th !

UK: Squat Crackdown, Bristol Fashion

Autonomous society in Bristol is under serious threat as eviction faces the Stokes Croft Free Shop and Emporium, Frowning Motorcycle events space, Smiling Chair anarchist library, and three other squat houses. In a move that will effectively mean making 60-70 people homeless, the bailiffs have been getting busy all around Stokes Croft.

The anarchist library was hit by ‘heavies’ on Monday 8th,who started putting metal sheeting over doors and windows whilst people were still inside. The illegal bailiffs were quickly dispatched by the coppers, having been called in by the occupants, for attempting to imprison the squatters inside. Later the same night the Frowning Motorcycle events space, which is also home to 5 people, was targeted by more illegal bailiffs trying to crowbar their way in. Luckily, the space was secure and they left without gaining access. [Read More]

Monday 11 October 2010
http://london.indymedia.org/articles/5654

A police station has been squatted in London in retaliation against police oppression.

What follows is a ‘communique’ from the occupied to the occupiers:

Squat
470 High Road Leytonstone

‘This is for everyone who has suffered injustice at the hands of the police.

This is for everyone who has been robbed by a banker,

This is for every soldier who was sent to war on lies.

This is for every refugee who is hounded for having there homes destroyed.

This is for the people who sleep on the streets on the outside of empty buildings.

THIS IS FOR YOU

RISE UP NOW! IT’S NOW OR NEVER…’
