The Pizzeria Anarchia is a house project located at the Mühlfedgasse 12 in the second district in Vienna. It exist since November 2011 and is now in danger of eviction. At that time, the two owners of the house, Avner Motaev and Nery Alaev, owners of Castella GmbH, offered a temporary use free of charge, first until March, later until June 2012. Even though they claimed to be motivated by social responsibility, it became quickly obvious that their real motivation (which they admitted in front of the judge by now) was to scare away the remaining tenants. Due to their permanent rent contracts, it was nearly impossible to displace them by juridical means, and they also couldn’t be persuaded to move out by the sabotage and intimidations made by the owners.

Vienna: Pizzeria Anarchia in danger of eviction
The following text is about our squat in the 2nd district of Vienna called „Pizzeria Anarchia“ which is now in danger of eviction. The owners of the house are Nery Alaev and Avner Motaev, who are hiding behind their „Castella GmBH“. They offered us to move into the house for six months in November 2011 with the hidden agenda that we will kick out the old tenants. The bottom line is, that we stayed, and are now fighting together with the old tenants (which are now in fact comrades of us) against the landlords.
Vienna: Epicenter of a coming movement
In Vienna, one day before the global day of action 15th of October, people started occupying a huge building. It has been opened as a social center named Epizentrum, for the neighborhood and the whole city, and it is right now in a humming process of being built up.
Vienna (Austria): Have you ever squatted the heart of the beast?
July 10th, 2011
http://linksunten.indymedia.org/de/node/42802
In the past couple of days, a group of people in Vienna, fed up of the increasing daily repression of life and the lack of free social space, have taken over an abandoned building in the Ottakring part of the city.
Ottrakring is ground zero of Real Estate speculation in Vienna. The people are also fed up of rising rents and abusive landlords in Vienna. We are also fed up with how the city government not only unconditionally supports the landlords but also how the city is doing less and less to help tenants and other social layers who find life in Vienna more and more unbearable. We’re comprised of Austrians, immigrants, women, men, youth, middle aged, students, workers and unemployed. We are artists, intellectuals, and free thinkers. We represent a true microcosm of Vienna and Austria.
Vienna (Austria): Haus Project’s action week has begun!
3rd ctober 2009 114 Triesterstraße is mostly occupied, though the unprecedented presence of a theatre group initially hampered the entering of the premises we are here with their support and making use of the majority of the very large structure. The theatre group is not going to be back until Monday meaning Saturday’s program will go on as planned.
The future of the occupation and the week remains uncertain but the kitchen is in action, close to 50 people are present and a host of activities from an open art exhibition to a bike workshop are planned. For more information contact hausprojektBLAHriseup.net or visit

Vienna: Hausprojekt Action Week
“Hausprojekt” Action Week VIENNA – from October 2nd to (at least) October 9th 2009!!!
We want to implement our concept and basics for a self-governed project in Vienna and try to create space for projects, critical debates and collective living. Over 80.000 flats in Vienna are empty. Virtually a complete district waiting for self-governance and enough space for emancipatory projects. We need spaces, which are too rare in Vienna – Spaces we can take and form. For this, a full week long, there will be a diversity of program, and space for mutual learning, experimentation, reflection and framing.

Open letter to the chief of police, Mr.Schnabel (EKH, vienna)
After the house-search in the E.K.H. on the 23rd of february 2001, police is proud of attacking the “bastion of the autonomous”, the so called “center of the chaos” (source: mediaprint 23.2.2001). Wild weapons have been confiscated:
The search after the famous “cache of the anarchists” (Quotation ORF, ZiB 25.2.2001) was, according to the statements of the police, a so called great success. Cobblestones from various political agitation-tours and study trips to training camps in lybia, jordan, cuba, sibiria and anares have been surveied and found for a size of 10 x 10 cm, others have been decamouflaged as candles. These weapons have been confiscated.
Furthermore 5 liters of highly explosive wallcolor, were found in the cache. In addition we are said to have developed a special pitch. It is the well-known “Praezessionsschlaeuderkraehenweitwerfen (“precise-sling-crowsfeet-wide-throwing”) which is detailed presented in the NeueKronenZeitung from the 25.2.2001. We are sorry, but until now we did not achiv the recognition of this kind of sport as an olympic disciplin, because we could not agree on the rules yet. In reality, we don`t have any idea how this “Praezesionsschlaeuderkraehenwerfen” should function.
Stop joking-the situation is serious enough In the course of the Opernballdemonstration it came to heavy police-attacks against demonstrators, suspects and uninvolved persons. According to police information from the 26th of february 2001 there are investigations against 90 persons. One person is still kept in custody.
The so called “street-battle” was a police mad rush on demonstrators. 42 persons have been arrested. Meanwhile it is evident, that many people have been beaten and mistreated by police. None of the arrested persons is older than 25 years – this is what youth politics looks like in Vienna !
In the early morning, there was a brutal raid against left-winged structures. The E.K.H. has been brutally attacked and criminalized by police and media. Doors have been broken, human beings have been dragged out of their beds with colts, handcuffed thrown to the floor. This is an attempt to silence critical voices who are questioning the ruling conditions. The right-extreme/ right wing government in Austria must be able to count on a braod basis, not only in times of election campaigns. To take vigorous action is a well working method in Austria.
The action may appear as a levying of hallucinized caches but police consciously attacked left wing structures. This course of events can only serve the threatening of political activists and may be used as an example.
An autonomous centre like the E.K.H. is an easy target for state arbitrary measures. But moreover we ask ourselves, who profits from this ? It will always be useful for the powerful. Every government needs human beings, but no human being needs governments.
It is evident for us, that every government is able to force such actions. Resistance starts where the established borders, defined by the repressive state, are went beyond without permission. The opposition must be beaten back beyond the borders.
The police attacks of the 22nd and 23rd of february fit in the picture of a government with FPOE contribution, who politically prepares racist attacks in the streets, support politics which contempts women and follows revisionism of history.
Such politics needs to be answered in various forms of protests. Legal protest is part of state and social structure and cannot radically change society. The different forms of protests against the dominating should have one common aim: the unlimited possibility of all to move and live in a free way in a society without monopols of violence. It is impossible for us to see the protests in Vienna apart from global protests against neoliberal interests. Still the wealthy Europe profits from hundreds of years colonizing huge parts of the world. Neoliberalism, also persueded by the FPOEVP government, encreases the difference in a violent capitalistic structur.
This government quits subvention for political/non-conform projects with the same aim as the assault of the autonomous center. We don`t get subvention and we don`t want to get subvention. We want to decide by ourselves, how and where we live and how we formulate and realise our demands. The autonomous center, E.K.H., is beside all (self-) critics an attempt to learn to live a society without capitalism.
They cannot threat us – they connot stop us
Solidarity with all political prisoners – immediatly release the last detained of the Opernballdemonstration
Abandonment of all legal proceeding

Short summary of the raid in EKH in vienna (austria)
Short summary of the raid in EKH in vienna (austria)
After the Opernballdemonstration, the following house search in the Ernst-Kirchweger House / E.K.H. and the medial mad rush, once more we have to point out some facts:
The E.K.H. defines itself as a free-space for cultural, political and artistic activities. It was squatted in 1990 by activistes of the viennese squatting scene and turkish left-wing organisation ATIGF. As an international, multicultural, antifascist centre it was named after Ernst Kirchweger, an antifascist who was killed during a demonstration in the 1960s.
Independent and autonomous structures and activities established in the house. The Flughafensozialdienst, an organisation to support refugees and migrants got rooms for cases of emergency for asylum seekers and migrants.
An infoshop ( a cafeteria with political book- and newspaper – offer), a public library and an archiv,music-experimenting-room, a sound-studio and workshops developed. The umbrella-organisation of jugoslavian groups and the office of the newspaper TATblatt moved in. KINOKI shows films and documentations, the “Volxtheatre Favoriten” produces operas and pieces.
Concerts, discussions and solidarity-events take place. People from all over the world live in the house. Nobody in the house is working for personal profit, without payment, just for the interests on the project itself. We don`t want, and we don`t get subvention or public support.
With our work, our living-together and political engagement we want to spread an alternative project of living.
In the last few years our work was accomponied by observing, spying, police-troops, who every now and then attack the house.
The house defines itself as a place of discussion, information and resistance against the dominaiting, non-worth-living circumstances of living here and everywhere else.

After the escalation of the protests into violence of the previous night, the President and other politicians (SPO Gruene) the quality of the protests changed last night. Highly organized by SMS and cellphonemessage chains, all kinds of groups and sympathizers found their way to last night’s rally. All in all an estimated number of 2000-5000 (always depending who you ask
people were present at the protest rally winding it’s way through the inner districts of Vienna. Absolutelynothing happened that was openly violent. The government and conservative and/or right wing media as well as the FPO politicians were hard pressed tofind reasons to discredit the conduct of the people present. In the end it boiled down to the following
* “soiling or disfiguration” of various building facades due to sprayed slogans
* numerous eggs, bottles and colour-bags thrown at the OVP headquarters.
(not to forget two!! stones !!! obviously they were paying attention. Knowing the police I am quite sure they have given them numbers and put them away in a very important room where they collect all that crucial evidence)
Like I myself told the people of SOS Mitmensch in a statement where I condemned their apparent unwillingness to support saturday’s protests, the majority of peaceful yet very dedicated protesters were able to contain the violent minority.
Well I myself always advocate shooting at police officers with military grade weaponry using SABOT high-velocity rounds…
Still I was glad that the protests stayed peaceful if very vocal until 02:00 (I myself left after 00:00) because now it seems as if the protesters listened to the words of our Bundestommy (the Pres.) and the other people (like hehehe Cardinal Schoenborn) who appealed to thepeople that they shall keep their protests peaceful and within legalboundaries.
Highlights of this night included:
The constant stream of people joining the rally from inside their homes and from elsewhere in the city.
People (obviously bereft of the real thing) were waving red blankets, pullovers, t-shirts and carpets from their windows – oh what a moment of socialist bliss this has been !
The (at this time numbering several thosand) protesters went through!!the Westbahnhof (Vienna’s largest public railway station). A really nice (maybe even unconscious) signal to the OBB employees (Austrian Railway). The Union of the OBB was the first to announce a strike to protest against the government budget cuts.
A BBC reporter interviewed us when we were on our way to the rally point. She asked a few questions that made it quite clear what the media was getting at here
Example: Since SOS-Mitmensch have revoked their support for the protests today, wont it be only anarchists and peoplewho want to raise chaos here tonight?
Well we told her that we were here to raise our voice on behalf of a unified Europe and well… most of the others will be there for loads of different reasons… would raising chaos be among them? Hey, this _government_ are the ones who have brought chaos into the political landscape of the EU!
Voice from the people:
A woman in a tobacco shop: Those foreigners (meaning EU politicians and media) should shut up. What’s going on in Austria is none of their business. What we have now is better than anythiong the reds would have gotten us into.
Me on quitting the shop in response: Did it ever occur to you that theEU is NOT a foreign country anymore. “We are Europe” was a campaign slogan of the OVP! Already forgot that?
Of course neither of the quoted statements of myself are expressing my political views very accurately.
I myself am against representative state democracy. Historically even since the greeks this has always ended in dictatorship. Let’s pave the way for self governing meritocracy
SUN Feb 6
Tonight the protests had an interesting destination.
The TV discussion “Zur Sache” with Peter Westentaler (FPO) Andreas Khol (OVP) Peter Kostelka (SPO) and Madleine Petrovic (Gruene) was relocated from it’s usual venue the “Haas Haus” in the inner city to the rather remotely located ORF HQ(Austrian State Broadcast Company). This was supposed to be secret, but somebody has leaked the information out andso the comm-network of the protest parties caught it. The protest rally was rerouted to march on to the ORF HQ to make a lot of noise there. Funny enough, _nobody_ knew this was gonna happen, not even people who werepart of the rally. Only when we had almost left behind the 12th district, most began to realize what’s going to happen. In a coordinated effort,e-mails were sent to the host of this night’s discussion Peter Pelinka, and the comm-network found ORF employees among the camera crew onsite in it’s remote recesses. So the knowledge that there was a protest rally _right outside_ got through to the leading politicians present at thediscussion. Of course Petrovic expressed her solidarity and sympathy for those onthe streets she confronted Westentaler with the words “What do you thinkabout the fact that we have to hide away in here because the people outsideare against your government?” More remarkably and politically more important was the fact that also Peter Kostelka supported the protesters with the words “The youth organisations of our party are among them, of course we support them.”
Yes that is indeed the hour of those people in the SPO who have been disappointed, frustrated, quenched and brow beaten throughout the yearsof SPO-OVP government. Now after all those years a leading SPO politician supports them instead of ignoring them. All those left wing unionists(are there even some left), youth organisation members and low-level politicians within the party are suddenly presentable. Suddenly they are an asset instead of a tolerated side effect of being a Social-Democratic party.
How times change
Highlight this night.
Arriving at the ORF HQ before even the police had completely sealed it off, I tried to infiltrate it’s grounds. First I was hindered by a 5meter fence with razor wire (a really nice hi-tek fence thingy, they also have cameras inside, but their fields of vision do not overlap, and the lighting is not continuous throughout the premises, so I reckoned I _could_ find a way inside) after sneaking past a few policemen patrolling through a cementary adjacent to the ORF HQ.
In a second attempt I tried to enter the compound through a remoteservice entry sneaking past another police patrol. Unfortunately I got caught at the gate itself and the police sent me on my way after I managed to convince them that I am at least harmless. (Schleich di du depp befua Ida an bock a no gib, gemma!)
Tonight the number of people present was even greater than saturdaynight, and everybody displayed a great amount of dedication marching out fromthe Ballhausplatz to the Kuenuegelberg (about 10 km) and some even went back into thecity again (I met them on may way from my home to where I work and now sit writing this mail around 02:00, there still were about 200 people)
well that’s it from me
hit them from outside, we hit them from inside!!this will not stand!!
Monday 7 feb
Demos go on: Thousands on the streets of Vienna protest peacefully.
We’ll keep you posted!
Actions in Vienna against the new government
Actions in Vienna against the new government
Since the decision of the Austrian president to swear in the new governement, containing 6 ministers of the neo fascist “freedom”party protests in the streets of vienna and the other big cities of the country do not stop. In the nights from friday to saturday and saturday to sunday the capital has seen the most violent clashes between demonstrators and the police in austria since the 30s.
a little chronic 1.2.2000 from 10 00 am on 40 to 60 protesters occupy the offices of the OEVP (conservatives in coalition with the Fascist party) in the evening:Demontrations in front of the austrian parliament> >
2.2.2000 from 17 00 pm on Demo with 20000! participants in front of OEVP central marching towards the chancellors office. The official demo end around 20h00 but 1000s stay on the street till about 1h00 in the morning.Traffic is blocked , cardrivers show their solidarity> > 3.2.2000 from 17h00 Demos start at OEVP central, lots of noise instruments to protest the decision to form a conservative/fascist coalition being made around this time
around 21h00: Protesters take the stage of “burgtheater” (biggest theater in town) during the play and call the audience to resistance. Standing ovations! demo continues till around midnight
4.2.2000 10h30 As it is planned to officially inaugurate the new governement at noon around 5000 protester gather in front of the chancellors office, as the crowd is rapidly growing, the new designated governement members have to sneek to an underground tunnel to the presidents office to avoid a confrontation. The demo then moves to the ministery of social affairs, occupies the building and renames it to ministery of resistance. First clashes with the police as protesters are stopped and beaten as they leave the occupied building demonstrations go on during the rest of the day all over the city. They mass of protesters split up and groups gather again and again in front of the party headquarters of OeVP and FPOe. Around 22H30 hundreds clash with the police in Kaerntnerstrasse ,not far from FPOe headquaters. Police uses watercanons and teargas but the protesters stay in control of the streets. The demos end around 1h00 in the morning.

6.2.2000 demonstrations continue. From about 20h00 thousands march from the center to the Austrian television station on the outskirts of the city where a live TV talshow is supposed to take place. Apart from the protest: The new government might have a majority in the parliament but is far from having a majority in the population. Union officials are talking about a general strike
